单复数规则

There is (单数)

用于修饰单数可数名词或不可数名词：

  • There is a cat on the sofa.
  • There is some milk in the fridge.
  • There is an apple and two oranges (靠近原则)
There are (复数)

用于修饰复数可数名词：

  • There are three books on the desk.
  • There are many students in the classroom.
  • There are two dogs and a cat (靠近原则)

重要提示

  • 靠近原则：当有多个主语时，be动词的单复数形式由靠近它的主语决定
  • 不可数名词：总是与 is 连用，即使前面有some, much等修饰
  • 表达存在：There be句型专门用来表达"存在有"，与have/has(拥有)不同
